There was a time, up to the Depression, when the westward suburban development of Los Angeles was so frenzied that, even after as little as a decade, owners of big expensive houses could find themselves threatened by traffic and commerce. Economics of the times made house-moving—the entire house, not just the furniture—routine and feasible; the 1910 Tudor seen here was moved from Normandie Avenue to Windsor Square in 1925—and then, surprisingly, 55 years later, moved yet again, this time to Hancock Park, where it still stands.
